Artist 

A native of Maryland’s eastern shore, Valerie J. Tipton has always loved art and painting. At an early age she was encouraged by her mother with art lessons and later art classes from Chesapeake College before graduating from high school in 1976. Valerie earned an Associates Degree in Fine Art from Ferrum College in Virginia before graduating from East Tennessee State University in 1980 with a BFA in Graphic Design and Art History. Valerie stayed in East Tennessee where she married and worked as a graphic artist until starting a family in 1987. After putting her interest in art on hold and recently retiring from a non art related career, she started painting again. Valerie’s medium of choice is oil paints on stretched canvas. When she is not being commissioned to do a painting she enjoys doing art shows, pet  portraits but especially painting waterfowl and wildlife.

I have a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Art History from East Tennessee State University
